Are you too out of the Box?

“How much is too much?” I get asked this question all of the time. This is a particularly hard question to answer from a wedding etiquette standpoint BUT as a person who always thinks out the box, it’s relatively easy. I always tell my brides the Dos and Dont’s of the wedding day, but I let them ultimately decide how they want to remember it. I am all for incorporating your own style, but I believe the non-traditional formats are best kept for the wedding reception.

The wedding ceremony time is a sacred time, and the symbolism of it should be kept that way. You don’t want to look back on your wedding ceremony, as if it were a big joke!

There are certain ceremony traditions I encourage, including the lighting of the unity candle or sand and holy communion, as these traditions symbolize the sanctity of joining two families together.

When it comes to the wedding reception, this is your time to think outside of the box. The wedding reception should show off who you are as a couple. If you’re fun and adventurous or elegant and classy, this should show in your wedding décor, entertainment, and program.

We’ve had bride’s incorporate human strolling stations, wedding magicians, comedians, Brazilian dancers and more. I personally encourage it! This is your first time hosting a party as a married couple. Throw a great party for your guests that they won’t forget.
